Best upgrade path - friendica 2024-12 to what? Using docker

I am using docker and I want to upgrade my friendica.

My site uses 2024.12

I have seen before version 2025 on different sites, but I only find 2026.01 as the oldest version.

I need a suggestion as to what version to upgrade to. The latest stable version? Or, only 2026.01, and then upgrade to the latest after?

No idea about docker over here.
In terms of versions, latest move on this server was step by step to 2026.01 which is still the official stable version (?).

2025 had seen a long RC phase for different reasons. Stable releases are as @tom s pointed out 2024.12 -> 2026.01 -> 2026.05. Both of them are still available at dockerhub.

I starteted around 2 years ago with friendica. Docker from the beginning, now I am at 2026.05 - and never ever I did a manually upgrade. That is always done by #watchtower. I never had a problem.

Hi all. I ended up upgrading to 2026.01. It seems to be working so far. Glad to be in the modern era:)

OK I a now considering updating to the latest version of friendica and be totally caught up.

Are there any known issues to consider? Bugs?

@Joseph Hogan the smileybutton is broken according to the release notes.

So, the smiley button. I can live with that. But, in the notes, it says to deactivate it. What does that mean, and how is it done?

@Joseph Hogan go to example.org/admin/addons (replace example.org with your Friendica domain) and look for smileybutton, if active (checkmarked) then deactivate it.

Hi There. It turns out my smiley buttons are not activated. So, no worry.
