tax them into the ground...

The rise of larger vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks, with their taller hoods and larger blind zones, has contributed to a 75% increase in pedestrian and cyclist deaths since 2009.

Until we design better streets and ban these vehicles, people outside these vehicles will keep dying.

Menu options - clarification

!Friendica Support

I recently added a relay to my friendica. Discovering food bad ad ugly posts. Itis to be expected:)

But, now with this new traffic, I a not sure what the menu options are for.

the left hand icon with 3 rows of 3 dots/squares.
the target like one with 3 circles.

what is the difference. Different things show up on each one, so I am unsure.

Thanks

@Friendica Support

Can any one point out to documentation showing the breakdown of the friendica interface and what each section does and is used for?

This might enlighten me a bit more. I just see different message showing up on different parts of the friendica site and i want to understand why the content shows up where it does, and how to better use it.

Thanks

Garden update: 9 minutes, two pots, zero regrets! 🌱

After piano, Alvin and I headed out for our daily garden session. No watering needed today (thanks, rain!)—just planting.

Potato Pot #2: Sticks, rocks, soil, compost, two little potatoes. Alvin planted them. 4-5 minutes. His hands are black. 😄

Lettuce Flower Box: Grabbed a hanging flower box, filled it with dirt, poked holes, and planted tiny lettuce seeds with my wet, dirty fingers (they stick to you!). 1-2 minutes.
We’re getting efficient at this. The dirt pouring takes longer than the planting now.
Alvin’s already eyeing the garden for tomorrow. That kid loves getting dirty! 🥬🥔

A Rainy Sunday

Today, another beautiful day, but not for the weather.A rainy day, but will be a simple day.

I will read a few chapters in my latest book The Visitors : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Visi…

I will find a project in the house to work on and also practice some piano.

This is a simple day for me. I need these more often:)

Soccer game day: Ottawa adventure! ⚽📸

Drove 2 hours to Ottawa for Matisse’s first game of the season. (Pro tip: the field was off-campus—took us a minute to find it!)

Brought my digital SLR and captured different moments: pre-game huddle, Matisse on the sidelines, action shots, post-game talk.

Then came the surprise: After the game, the coach invited us all to Red Lobster! Didn’t plan on it, but Matisse convinced me. About 6-7 kids and 5 adults went to Hump at the Wind. Everyone got shrimp—all-you-can-eat, fish-in-a-bag, or like us: shrimp tacos. The coach even picked up the bill!

Two-hour drive home (tired but made it), got in around 11:20. Long day, great day. 🦞

Day 4: More onions + another potato pot! 🧅🥔

Grabbed another pack of onion bulbs at the nursery. After school, Alvin and I got to work.

First: watered all the previous plots (4-5 cans of water). Then: onions round 2. We drew the lines, planted the bulbs, covered them up. This pack was better quality—saved an extra 10 bulbs compared to the first day. Quick work together.

Then we set up another potato pot for the driveway. Sticks, wood chunks, stones—layered it up the same way as before. Will it work? No idea. But we’re trying it!

Garden experiments in progress. 🌱

A better idea: onion bulbs! 🧅

Had a plan for the long strip behind the smart blocks, but then a better idea came to me—why not plant onion bulbs instead? Grabbed a pack and got to work the next day.

Here’s how we did it:
• Drew three lines with a stick
• Planted bulbs about 5-6 inches apart (finger-measured depth—not fancy, but it works!)
• Covered everything up
• Big douse of water
Simple, straightforward, and now we wait. Anyone else growing onions from bulbs?

We are just trying simple things to have a successful garden:)

More days of planting!

Spinach & Green Onion Shade Garden

We planted three rows in the shaded corner plot behind the hostas—spinach and green onion seeds. Evening garden work has a nice rhythm to it—clean, prepare, plant, cover. Timing really matters.

Potato Pot Experiment

Trying something new: container potatoes! Here’s the setup:
• Layer of rocks + sticks + compost in the bottom for drainage
• A couple of fingerling potatoes
• As they grow, we’ll keep adding soil to the pot (gives them more room to develop)
• A few sticks on top to discourage animals from digging
It’s an experiment, but the theory is solid. Small space, potentially bigger yield?

More updates as things grow! Anyone else trying container gardening?

Garden planting adventure—phase one done!

Our new landscaping meant reworking everything, so I mapped out all the potential spots and made a plan. Yesterday, my son and I got to work.

Plot 1 (against the house): Beets and different kinds of onions. We drew lines with a stick and planted seeds along them—way more efficient than individual holes. We planted densely and will thin them out later (finally learning that’s the key to a good harvest!).

Plot 2 (back yard): Lettuce, beets, and three mounds of zucchini and cucumbers. Bush beans coming soon once I figure out the space.

First week down. Here’s hoping the thinning actually works this time!

Anyone else starting their garden this season? What are you planting?

Back in Montreal

I am back after my Minnesota trip.

Spring has sprung. Warm weather he here.

I am now looking forward to my outdoor activities. Biking, hiking, rollerblading.

Looking for off island adventures to spend my time outdoors. Looking for new ideas and new people to go outdoors and take advantage of what Quebec has to offer.

Piano on my MInd

Hi there

I've been trying to rearrange my piano routine to come up with a recipe that gets me to where I want go. I've played and practiced just for the sake of practicing. Now, I want to build up a catalog of songs that I can use when with others. Small family gatherings or with friends, or other events.

Does any one else play for fin like this? I like playing piano, and this will allow me to have a few songs ready all the time, as I learn/relearn my favorite music.

My other goal is to find others with whom I could play duets with. This have been a challenge, but hopefully this will happen.
